I am so excited to tell you guys about my experience at Photo Native this year! Photo Native is a conference by photographers for photographers and you get to work with and learn from the best in the business! I met photographers that I have been oogling (is that a word?!) and stalking for years and it was amazing! I grew up on movie and television sets and I don’t get star struck very often, but I was like a kid in a candy store walking around with photographers I had been admiring since I first got into this business ;). It was one of the most amazing experiences, I learned so much and I walked away with a crazy amount of excitement and energy for my own work.
Photo Native lasted several days. My first day was a Photo Native Styled Shoot at Wild Willow Studio with Alyssia Baird from Alyssia B Photography who is absolutely amazing! Alyssia styled our shoot and Braelynn from Belle Bodas designed and made our Victorian Romance shoot come to life. Their vision for this shoot was like walking into a dream. Everything was on point and every detail from the flowers to the bride’s hair and makeup, and everything in between, was perfect! I’ll add all the vendors at the end of this post along with links to their insta handles because you have to check them out, they are all divine! I secretly wanted a wedding do-over just so I could have this amazing team!
When I first arrived at Wild Willow Studio, the first thing I noticed was the smell of the cake. My sense of smell is probably comparable to that of a Blood Hound and being someone who is highly motivated by food, it’s fair to say that I thought about this cake for next several days. I literally took 50 pictures of this cake, I had to get it from every angle. I used that as an excuse just so I could be close to it, it was beautiful! The cake was in the entrance of the studio and it just got more amazing walking into the studio. The most amazing flower wreath was on the wall and this gorgeous Victorian couch was set up. Alyssia walked us through her process of how she would shoot on a wedding day and we got to watch her work with and photograph the couple and then we all got a turn doing the same thing. It was an incredible experience working with and learning from Alyssia, she is also the sweetest person!
The next two days were filled with classes. I learned about posing, lighting, fashion photography, the importance of personal projects, and so much more! The conference ended whit the most bomb disco party EVER!! I made new friends, and felt like I walked away a better me with more confidence to take on my photography business. I loved everything about it and can’t wait to go back next year!
